After half a dozen attempts I now have a working VM with Windows 98SE. (I did write down what I did to get that far, so if anyone is interested, just let me know!)

Bridged Ethernet works (the VM gets an IP address from my home network), but I don't want to use it, and would prefer Host-only Networking. That doesn't work.

This is how far I got: in Mac Network prefs all I could do was create a new configuration for port "Ethernet Adaptor (en2)" (the realteck adaptor itself doesn't appear in the list; should it? If so, when and how should it have gotten there?)

This newly created configuration does seem to work, however, and I now have a Mac with IP address 10.37.129.2 (on that en2 port) and a VM with IP address 10.37.129.3 using the realteck thing, and yes, I did "share" my C-disk in Windows – which I can see from the Mac when using bridged ethernet – but no, the Mac cannot connect to 10.37.129.3! I get the message that the server doesn't exist or isn't working.

Any help would be greatly appreciated.

    Yours
