Hi there, is it possible to install Parallels 7 on a new iMac with Maverick and upgrade it to Parallels 9 afterwards???? My Macbook runs Parallels 7 with a Windows 7 virtual machine - this should be transferred afterwards to the iMac. Has someone an idea? If it does not work i have to leave all on the Macbook (what i don't want) - or is there any way to get all on the iMAc with Mavericks?? Thanks for your help!
Hi Shenka, You definitely can transfer your virtual machine to the new Mac. Please follow the steps below to complete the transfer and install Parallels Desktop 9: 1. Locate your virtual machine on your old Mac and copy it to the external drive. The VM should be located at Documents -> Parallels -> Windows 7.PVM or Users - > Shared -> Parallels -> Windows7.PVM 2. On your new Mac, create the empty Parallels folder in your Documents and paste Windows 7.pvm there 3. Uninstall Parallels Desktop 7 from your old Mac: http://kb.parallels.com/112189 4. Install Parallels Desktop 9 as suggested at http://kb.parallels.com/116989 5. Activate Parallels Desktop: http://kb.parallels.com/117121 Thanks, Maheeshwar
Hello Maheeshwar, I upgraded to Mavericks before upgrading from Parallels 7. What should I do to upgrade my Parallels. I have very simple needs: I run Quicken 2007 under Windows XP. That's all. No other Windows programs. No USB devices, nothing else. After the Mavericks upgrade, my folder: Documents/Parallels is empty. I think that folder was empty before I upgraded to Mavericks, because when I use TimeMachine to look at earlier versions of that folder they are all empty. Can you give me some advice on how to upgrade my Parallels and not lose my Quicken / Windows XP installation? Thanks Jack
