    Hi there,

Have a new (Lion) MBP which has Parallels 5 with Windows XP Pro SP3 installed. I migrated the apps across from my old Laptop, both were Lion. I have never tried to run Parallels 5, but believe I need to update to P.7 before I try to use XP. Will my XP still run on Parallels 7? What do I need to do to to run XP in Lion with Parallels? The Parallels 5 and XP were originally on the now defunct laptop using Snow Leopard, prior to updating that machine to Lion.

As another option, if I use Windows 7 (don't yet have) then how would I go about installing that in Parallels? Add it as a new VM?

    Thanks so much for guidance.

    Lynn

The correct upgrade process would be to update first Parallels 5 to 7 and then Snow Leopard to Lion. Anyway, it should be ok to upgrade Parallels now, and yes, your XP VM will be available after upgrade.

To install Windows 7 you would go to File>New and follow instructions, this is also very well explained in the User Guide.
