New iMac running latest software. Installed parallel 8 and windows 8 preview. I do not have a parallels icon anywhere. I put windows programs on and are able to use them. I don't care for windows 8 and would like to remove it and do a clean install of windows Xp that I have. Can I uninstall windows 8 and parallels without losing the windows programs I have installed? Long time PC user and MAC is kicking my butt but I am going to learn it. Don't want to take to trash something I need but would love to start over. Any help is greatly appreciated.

    Hey,

The most probable reason of why you don't see your Parallels Desktop icon is that you're running your Windows 8 VM in Coherence View mode. Click on the Parallels sign (two red lines) at the top right corner of your screen and chose Quit Coherence. Your Windows 8 desktop will appear in the Window view mode.

There is no way to transfer applications installed on your Windows 8 to Windows XP. This is not supported by Microsoft. You can still create a new Windows XP VM by clicking Virtual Machine option at the top Mac menubar --> New. You don't necessarily have to delete your current VM, you can keep both.
