new user: how to setup win2k server on DHCP network

New to Parallels and osx and trying a few different setups including xp pro, windows 7 and server 2003. I see how the virtual os gets a unique gateway, ip and such from the host system and it's not on the same network as the host system. thus port forwarding from my wan router and such will not allow me to point to the virtual to be referenced for services such as ftp and http. it requires forwarding on the same IP range.

Can someone point me to any write up or processes of how to get the virtual machine to be on the same net as the host for my needs. I see the bridge option may be the solution but have no idea of where to be begin.
