I am just starting out with Parallels on my MacBook Pro.
Couple of questions that may turn out to be non-events.
I used to be able to connect to an internet connection in a hotel room on the Mac side and still maintain the connection after going across to XP. Then for no apparent reason that stopped working. Any ideas?
Secondly, is it just not possible to 'see' a flash drive on both desktops. The same thing seems to apply to CD/DVD's. If I put in a DVD on the Mac side, it does not appear on the XP side and vica-versa. Is it just that any external storage device cannot be shared by both systems.

    Thanks

I run Tiger and the latest Parallels build.

Mount flash through Shared Folders Parallels Desktop for Mac user guide from http://www.parallels.com/en/download/file/doc/Parallels_Desktop_for_Mac_User_Guide.pdf on page 133

It is true, CD-DVD should be connected either to Mac or to Vm, you can easily connect /disconnect it from Parallels Desktop Devices -CD-DVD-rom

For Networking it is hard to say without knowing configuration.
Usually it is Shared Networking - set adapter to default 0n Network Card 1
