Yesterday when Windows Excel froze on me I decided to get out of the predicament by turning off the VM with Parallels---at least that's what I think I did. Today I can't get Windows XE to boot. The Power Off item was checked under the VM menu. When I tried to select Power On I got this message. Currently opened virtual machine does not include any boot devices. In order to be successfully booted the virtual machine should have at least one of the following devices attached: floppy disk drive, hard disk drive, CD/DVD-ROM drive. Do you want to power on this virtual machine anyway? I replied Yes and when Parallels tried to boot Windows XE I got this error message. There is no operating system installed in the virtual machine. Please do the following: 1. Click the Power Off button to stop the virtual machine. 2. Insert the installation CD with your operating system into the CD-ROM drive of your computer. 3. Click the Power On button to start the virtual machine again. 4. Wait while installation program starts and follow on-screen instructions. Consult the following sources for more details: - Quick Start Guide, "Installing Windows XP" topic (select Help->Quick Start Guide in menu); - Online Help, "Creating Virtual Machine->Installing Guest OS" section (select Help->Contents in menu). The Parallels home window says Guest OS Windows XP Boot Sequence Hard Disk, CD-ROM, floppy Acceleration Hig Auto Start Off Modified N/a VM state stopped The buttons at the bottom say Install OS Open Edit Save. Can anyone help me? I tried selecting Power On and then resetting but this didn't help? Do I really have to uninstall and reinstall Windows?
