I have had thi issue recur in the past. Currently the sound output in Windows XP is not working. It is all set in the Parallels configuration area, but there is nothing coming out of the speakers. I hear the Apple "beep" as I adjust the sound level, but nothing coming from Windows via Parallels. Any thoughts on trouble shooting this would be appreciated. Henry
Hello Henry c, 1) Open Parallels Desktop. 2) Do not start the Windows Virtual Machine. 3) On the Menu bar click on Virtual Machine = > Click on Configure = > on the left column click on Sound. 4) Make sure it is enabled and connected. 5) In the Output => Select "Built - In Output" 6) In the Input => Select "Built - In Input"
I checked everything you suggested I checked everything you suggested, but I still cannot hear anything? If you have suggestions on what to do next I would greatly appreciate it. Henry
First of all, make sure the audio controller is available on the Windows side: Start -> Control Panel -> System -> "Hardware" tab -> Device manager. There should not be any exclamation marks. Also, check the sound settings on the Windows side: Start -> Control Panel -> sounds and Audio Devices Properties -> (if needed) Advanced. There should not be any "mute" and such.
Still nothing Thanks so much for the support. I checked all the settings you mentioned, everything appears to correct. I can "see" the audio icon in Parallels flashing as if there was indeed sound coming into the Parallels world, it just never makes it to the Macbook speakers. Like I said, I hear all other programs through the Macbook just fine. If there is anything else you can help me with I would greatly appreciate it. H
