In a previous post , I asked for suggestions regarding the inability to connect to a LAN with any of the Network Adapter options, even though I could connect to the internet through my cable gateway. I can now report that the issue was caused by using Norton Internet Security firewall. The problem does not occur with Windows XP firewall. You can either use the Windows firewall instead of norton, or the Norton firewall can be configured to all communication with the computers on your network, if you specifiy IP addresses. Obviously, this would be burdensome in a large office network, but it is a good work around for a small office or home network.
