I am trying to upgrade My Terratec Noxon2audio wireless internet radio adapter. Have it since a long time, but never been able to upgrade the firmware through Parallels desktop. Unfortunately they don´t offer any Mac tool to do so, although they sell it through Mac resellers.

Has anybody of you been able to manage that? I don´t find a lot of comments in the internet on this issue, so I assume, I am overlooking something obvious.

Have tried all kinds of different settings for the Parallels wireless, but to no avail. If anybody knows how to do it through the host OS, please, please PM!

    Thanks in advance!

Sound device in Virtual Machine is always Intel branded AC97 compatible, please upgrade either from Boot Camp, or from Mac OS

    Thank you, John.

I need to explain, that the Noxon is a wireless radio, simply reachable and pingeable over the air. It´s not a sound device. So this is not an audio-problem, but a problem in Airport-support.

Upgrading from Mac is non-existant, and as I am very pleased with Parallels, I don´t have Bootcamp any more :)

So the problem remains.... MAybe some other user has experience with the Terratec Noxon and can help here?

BTW, I have disabled all firewalls, proxies etc. to try the upgrade, to no avail.

If you're only targeting this thread at people who have the same device that you have (which I personally never heard of) and happened to manage to upgrade the firmware in the same conditions you're in, and happen to read this thread, your target will be near to zero. But if you instead aim at the generally knowledgeable about OSX/Parallels/Windows people that read this forum by giving enough and relevant detail (example: for a start a description of what is this product what does it do, how does it work, a link to the product page) perhaps you'll have more success.

Looks like this device, and first problem I read it is firewall preventing device discovery.
Try to switch VM to Bridged Ethernet, while using Airport connection, and try to discover device, do not forget to disable any antivirus

It seems I overestimated the number of users of Mac / Parallels / Noxon a lot, you´re right with your hint, specimen, thanks for the recommendation.

The Terratec Noxon2audio is a wireless radio for internet stations. It´s a box wirth some logic, antenna and display. It logs into the same WiFi / wireless LAN as my apples and is reachable with a configuration page (for defining links to internet radio stations) when accessed by it´s IP. It is reachable by ping as well, of course.

Firewalls etc are turned off both on guest and host side.

My impression is, that the Windows side of things simply does not work and after hours of trying out everything imaginable it seems it´s less a Parallels problem than anything else. I´ve spent too much time on the device anyways. Thank you all for helping, but this is beyond my ability in managing faulty Windows applications.

My only hope was the parallels forum, as here I find well informed people in both worlds, and have seen many a good hint on seemingly impossible questions, so I decided to give it a try.

just in order not to leave open a thread, this is how I finally managed to solve the problem of not being able to access the TERRATEC NOXON 2 AUDIO Internet radio, that wasn´t manageable using the wireless, neither under Parallels nor any other way:

    - got me a legal copy of Windows (grrrr...)
    - istalled Windows XP SP2 in Bootcamp not using Parallels (duh.)
    - connected the NOXON2AUDIO via a patch cable directly to the computer (what do I have a wireless for??)
    - ran a routine to put the radio station into upgrade-mode (needed to get that from tech-support)

    done.

No fault with Parallels, rather the TERRATEC guys didn´t do an overly clever job. It owuld be much easier to have used the USB - interface of the NOXON 2 AUDIO for updates of the firmware in the first place.

This is a typical case of SNAFU.
