NTVDM error on 16-bit DOS in Windows XP

Hello

I switched to the Mac because there is Parrallels, wouldn't have done it otherwise, for fear that there would be a PC program that I can't run.

Now I try to run my favourite, old-fashioned game and it happens to be 16-bit DOS.

I get an error from the 16-bit MS-DOS subsystem:
The NTVDM CPU has encountered an illegal instruction.
CS: 383f IP: 8759 OP: fe 95 02 19 27 Choose "Close" to terminate the application

Choosing "Ignore" does not help.

I was able to run this program on windows XP with no problems on real PCs.

Have you set the properties to run it as MS-DOS?

Sorry, that was REALLY vague. Properties meaning right click on the program and set how it is to be run...

 

Tried that, the Program tab already shows it as an MSDOS program. Changing the properties in all sorts of ways didn't help at all.

Strange... I guess you will need the Parallels team to take a look. Doesn't sound like a simple setting or anything.

Here's what you need to do:
1. Shut down your VM.
2. Go to Edit->Virtual Machine...
3. In left pane select "Options"
4. In right pane select Advanced and deselect the "Enable Intel VT-x support" checkbox.

After that, start your VM and check if things got better.
