My wife was working on her Mini Mac and a nag screen popped up about a Parallels update. After seeing it several times, she decided to "update". I can't tell the exact steps she went through since I didn't watch her. She told me when she clicked on the update option, it said the computer would have to reboot (apparently in this situation, that really meant Windows 7 and Parallels would have to close.)
The update started and was about half way down the update list to the point where it said "insert a null disk" or words to that effect. This is where I came into the picture as she asked me for a null disk. I haven't a clue as to what that meant. I had to do a hard exit from the installer. I then closed OS-X, rebooted to OS-X and then tried to do the same update. This time it just froze without asking for a null disk.
Anyone know what's going on here?

I did solve the problem above by doing a reboot of OS-X and then running the update again from within OS-X. I think my wife may have not shut down Parallels completely before attempting to run the update.
Still, I'm interested in what the "null disk" request was about.
