Using the numeric keypad to enter dates in Word 2010, e.g. 3/25/2018, is very convenient. I can do it in Word 2010 in Windows 10. I can do it in Word 2011 for Mac in OS X 10.13.3, but I can not do it in Word 2010 in Parallels 13: Windows 7. Can anyone be of assistance correcting this problem? Many thanks in advance.
ADDENDUM: What I totally left out is that the problem is the numeric "/" key. It doesn't do anything so 3/25/2018 is entered as 3252018. That is the key problem. Again thanks in advance for helpful resolutions.
Hi LawrenceS1. Shut down the virtual machine by selecting Actions (from Mac menu bar) -> Shutdown and open the configuration window. Select Hardware -> Keyboard & Mouse and set Keyboard option to 'Optimize for Games'. Then start the virtual machine and check if it works fine.
My deepest thanks to Sathiya at Parallels who pointed the way to getting the numeric-/ key to work when entering dates using the numeric keypad, e.g. 3/26/2018. Just follow these instructions: 1- Actions Menu: Shut down the virtual machine 2- Actions Menu: Configuration: Hardware: Mouse and Keyboard: Optimize keyboard for GAMES <- I would never have thought of that one! 3- Restart virtual machine, Open Windows 2010, Plus or Minus Toggle the "clear" button to get the numeric keypad in the correct mode.
