The install went well and I created a standard user, plus renamed the administrator account and added a password. Usually Vista remembers the last logged on user and on startup, presents that user. Instead, on startup, I get "invalid password". Click through that and it's asking for my admin account password. On clicking "Switch user" I have two identical admin accounts and the standard user account offered. I want the standard user to be the default and it should remain so if it was the last logged on user. I've prowled local system policies to see if I can control first user offered. No luck. I previously had a Bootcamp Vista partition accessed via a Parallels VM and had no such problem with users on startup. Any ideas.
Solved Had to be a registry entry but I couldn't find any reference to my admin user name. Local Policies and GPOs were of no help. Then got the idea to search the registry for the original admin name, "Administrator". There it was under HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Windows NT\CurrentVersion\Winlogon. Changed it to my standard user name and problem solved.
