Offical steps to 'Stop' the Snapshot Manager from making new Snapshots?

While the Snaphot manager is a nice feature, it has become a major problem consuming all the disk space on my host - causing great pains with OS X and the guest OS when there is no free disk-space remaining.

My question is straightforward but I pose it as I don't want to ruin any of the virtual machines. Once the Snapshot manager has been applied to a virtual machine, what are the official steps to prevent it from making new snapshots (after I merge the changes, etc...)? It appears that once I 'activate' the Snapshot manager, I don't have a way to tell to stop making snapshots on that same virtual machine.

    Thanks!
