I have just upgraded to Version 4 Parallels for Desktop and now find I cannot access shared files on Virtual Windows XP machines over the network. There were no such problems with Version 3. The network consists of two virtual Windows XP machines, one on an iMAC, the other on a MacBook Pro, and a PC also running Windows XP. The Virtual Windows XP machines on both MACS can see and open shared files on the PC. The Windows PC can see shared directories on both Virtual Windows XP MACS but cannot open any shared directory or file. Neither is it possible to open any shared file on any one Virtual Windows XP MAC by the other Virtual Windows XP MAC. The message on all three machines is the same. [not accessible. You might not have permission to use the network resource. Contact the administrator of this server to find out if you have access permissions. Not ernough server storage is available to process this command.] I have added' IRPStackSize' to the Registry on both virtual machines and that has not made any difference There is no IRPStackSize on the real PC. I believe the network is working because it is possible to use the printer from the PC and also both Virtual machines. The common printer is connected to the USB port on Airport Extreme. The iMAC and PC are connected via ethernet to Airport Extreme. The MacBook Pro is WiFi. The network is set at 'Bridged'. Ipconfig /all on both virtual pcs and the real pc is IP address: 192.168.0.XXX Subnet :255.255.255.0 Default gateway: 192.168.0.1 DHCP server : 192.168.0.1 DNS server : 192.168.0.1 Airport Extreme: Parallels shared Networking adaptor 10.211.55.2 Subnet 255.255.255.0 Parallels Host only Networking adapter 10.37.129.2 Subnet 255.255.255.0 Router Modem Ip address 81.136.173.106 Gateway 81.145.90.6 DNS 194 72 0.98 DNS 194.74 65.68 Lan Port 192.168.0.1 Subnet 255.255.255.0 I would be please to read of any suggestions becasue I really need to be able to quickly and easily to be able to transfer files between the two MACs. Incidentally, upgrading to version 4 was not as straightforward as any of the version 3 upgrades and that was the same for both MACS. Also many Parallels settings needed to be readjusted. Again something that was not needed with a V3 upgrade.
Please try the Bridged Networking mode. Access the Virtual Machine in the Shared Networking mode is not possible neither in the 3.0 version, nor in the new Parallels Desktop version.
Thank you, both, for your replies. For your information Wifi was open and I was using Bridged network, again as with Version 3. All very odd but after two days, and not changing anything, the network is functioning as it used to under Version 3. The only change made was that the PC and both MACS were switched off completely overnight.
