So I have Warp running happily in a VM, actually much snappier than it runs on old PCs. But, I canNOT get the networking to work at all. If Parallels had an accessible virtual router, I might be able to figure it out. I installed the NIC via MPTS, and Warp seemed happy with that. I did the TCP/IP notebook, and probably messed that up? If someone out there has this working, would you please post a step-by-step faq of what you did? TIA
Can OS/2 ping itself at localhost and at it's own IP? Can it ping its default router by IP? Can it ping any host using the IP?
I have been tryng for nearly two weeks now to get OS/2 Warp 4.52 installed. What version have you got running? And how did you get it to install? Mike
Hi, I've networking enabled in parallel's options and set to shared. Inside OS/2 I've installed the rtl 8029 driver that comes with eCS (I have 1.2R) and it works ok. I've not yet installed the driver that comes with parallel tools for OS/2. Best regards. Maurilio.
Eru, I've found out that there is not such a thing as a parallel network driver for OS/2, the parallel tools cd simply has a copy of a standard rtl8029 floppy with all the available drivers. Anyway, albeit slowly, the network works ok. Maurilio.
It's been several months since I installed 4.52. I recall that none of my attempts worked. Finally, as best as I recall, I used the Parallels tools to make an iso image of the 4.52 install CD, and went from there. Set the VM to boot first from CD, pointed to the virtual CD iso image, and started it. Then it went. But this is Off Topic.
-1- YES: " [C:\]ping localhost PING localhost: 56 data bytes 64 bytes from 127.0.0.1: icmp_seq=0. time=0. ms 64 bytes from 127.0.0.1: icmp_seq=1. time=0. ms 64 bytes from 127.0.0.1: icmp_seq=2. time=0. ms ----localhost PING Statistics---- 3 packets transmitted, 3 packets received, 0% packet loss round-trip (ms) min/avg/max = 0/0/0 " -2- What is the "default router"??? What would be its IP? -3- apparently NOT, eg apple.com: " [C:\]ping 17.254.3.183 PING 17.254.3.183: 56 data bytes ----17.254.3.183 PING Statistics---- 6 packets transmitted, 0 packets received, 100% packet loss "
