Before I upgrade to 10.1, I had previously been routinely doing PVM HDD compress to keep the PVM size from getting too large, as I only occasionally use Windows and I normally have snapshots setup for undoing certain unwanted windows actions. For my routine, 2-3 times a year, I delete my snapshots and choose to compress the PVM HDD, after which I would create new snapshot, this process has been without any problem. However, after upgraded my Parallels to 10.1 and been using it for a couple weeks, yesterday I deleted my snapshots and compress the PVM HDD as usual, but this time the Windows 7 failed to start. It enters windows recovery and tried to repair itself but without success. No matter what I tried, I can't get my Windows 7 to work again. Hence, I backed up the broken Windows 7 image ("BW7-B"), and use one of my previous backup image ("BW7-A")to work on Windows 7 again. I tested the BW7-A works like it supposed to, then I proceed to do the same compress process: delete snapshots, compress PVM HDD. After this the BW7-A failed to start just same as BW7-B. Hereby I advise fellow Parallel users refrain from doing any HDD compress for now, and I sincerely ask Parallels support team to give me some assistance to solve the issue, especially I would really appreciate if I can get my broken BW7-B works again.
