Make a shortcut to "c:\Program Files" in the Programs sub-column of the Start column. Now Click Start, then hover Programs (that opens the first subcolumn), hover Program files (opens the second subcolumn) and hover on any program folder installed that in turn has a subdirectory, select now any of these subdirectories and click two times (or three) to open that folder. Expected: the folder opens right away. Received: in brief, it doesn't open and the GUI freezes. In details: sometimes it opens if it is the first time I try to open the folder in this way but then if I try to open another folder (as nested as that first one) the GUI freezes: I see all the columns and subdirectories but cannot close them nor open any directory in these columns. Surprisingly, if while all those columns are displayed frozen on my screen I click on any folder's shortcut present in my desktop that is not hidden behind these columns, then that folder *and the one I tried to open navigating the columns and subcolumns* both open suddenly.

This is reproducible in a systematic way in two different mac machines and with different configurations: a macbook pro 17" of the end of 2008 running snow leopard in 64 bit mode and a macbook 13" of 2009 running snow leopard in 32 bit mode, both machines with 4MB ram.

Any ideas on what is happening or how to workaround this problem? I work all the time openning folders navigating through a hierarchy of columns and subcolumns starting clicking at "Start" and this problem attempts badly against productivity.

    Thanks
