I recently purchased a Mac Mini Server for my home. Since I mostly utilize my Windows machine RDP, I decided that I would install Parallels 5 on this server and then install Windows 7 as the guest operating system. I am running the latest version of Parallels 5 and OSX Snow Leopard 10.6.2.

All worked well and everything was working great, that is until I removed the external monitor from the Mac Mini Server as I needed it for another machine. When I rebooted the Windows 7 guest VM without the external monitor, the VM works via RDP, but when I connect to the Mac Mini Server using ARD, the guest VM shows a 640x480 black screen. If I attach the monitor back to the Mac Mini Server, restart the guest VM, boom, I see the Windows 7 guest OS over ARD and can log in locally. Even if I remove the monitor after booting the Parallels guest VM, it will continue to work until I reboot the VM without the monitor attached.

Does anyone have an idea on how to fix this? I am trying to avoid having a monitor hooked up to the server just to run Parallels VM's. I suspect it has something to do with the apple display link adapter.

    Matt
