As a second VM, I'm installing Windows XP so that I can use a particular program that is also running (legally) on a Windows XP portable PC. In order to use that program efficiently, I want and need the data paths set up on the VM to match the data paths on the Windows XP PC. For the purpose of my inquiry, assume the sole user/administrator on the XP portable PC is XXXX.

What am I doing wrong. Despite multiple installation attempts in which I provide the correct user name to both Parallels and Windows XP, Parallels sets up the XP user account/administrator with the name of "Owner," and it creates the user folder/subfolders all under that "Owner" name. The process of changing the user name in control panel from Owner to XXXX is only superficial (it will not change the name of the user data paths to XXXX").

I'm working with a Windows XP Home (SP3) disk, Parallels 5 (current build), Mac OS X 10.6.2 (current version) on a new i7 iMac.

Under Parallels 5, I also have installed Windows 7, which did create the correct user name, XXXX.

Thank you for whatever assistance you are able to provide. --mbm
