I've been a user of Parallels since way back to version 3 (got all upgrades as they came out). I've always been able to easily navigate the Views until now, with Parallels 7 on Lion (I did not have these issues with P6 and Lion). I've lost a lot of productivity trying to navigate back and forth from Windows to Mac desktops and windows- I'm hoping someone can clarify a few issues for me.

One, it seems now you have to 'exit' a view before you can go into a new view. If I'm in Coherence I can't go to the Parallels 'View' menu and just select Modality. I have to Exit Coherence first, then go to the Menu and select Modality. In between I get a Window view with giant icons, blurry resolution. This seems really like a backward step. Is there some way to go from 'View' to 'View' without having to 'exit' the current one first? I switch views frequently depending on workflow.

Two, in Full Screen view it used to be easy to see the Mac Doc by Control/Option. What was great was that it kept the Full Screen for Windows, showed the Mac Dock, and I could open a Mac program 'over' the Windows Full Screen, simultaneously. If I needed to go back to Windows I just clicked in the Windows Desktop. This was extremely handy because I had one thing going on in Windows (desktop sharing with clients) and could work Mac programs at the same time without bleed over. Now when you can bring up the Mac Dock (and it never seems to work consistently, from the bottom corners settings) and open a Mac program you lose the Windows Full Screen view entirely. The Mac takes over. This is a major time waister for me.

Last thing: maybe I don't have it set up right (I've looked at all settings so I don't know how else to try it) but Modality used to 'scale' the programs open in Windows. It would resize them to scale. This was good if I had a large window open in Windows- the whole thing would still show in Modality, but smaller. Now Modality treats it as a 'Window' view and if the Parallels 'window' is smaller than the program's window in W7 running, it cuts it off. Modality doesn't seem to rescale anymore. It used to be a 'resized' but to scale picture of the VM. What gives?

Any advice would be much appreciated as I blown a lot of time trying to figure this out. It used to be so simple in P6. If this is just how P7 is, I would say it's a strong thumbs down in terms of View navigation. I love Parallels, in the past, but this is aggravating on an hourly basis.

  3. For me the Modality seems blurry when you expand the Windows too much? I find using standard mode in Lion and using the Full screen option is best. I have tried Coherence too and it works OK.

Yes coherence works, thats it but looks pretty primitive by now. If you use aero the windows will show up with ugly squared corners.
