I had installed Parallels Desktop 9 when it was first released, and so automatically got Parallels Access, which I did not need since I have no iPad. I found the Parallels Access preference that let me uncheck Start Parallels Access on login, and the app no longer appeared in my menu bar. Upon upgrading to Maverics, however, the machine refused to sleep. Only going through the full PA uninstall, removing all the launch agents and launch daemons, allowed the machine to sleep again.
