Okay. I installed the beta, installed the Tools on my BootCamp partition, and rebooted.

If I try to create a new Custom VM, when I get to the page where it asks "new image/existing image/boot camp/etc", the 'boot camp' option is greyed out.

I am able to access the partition directly from OS X (it isn't NTFS).

Is this the FAT32 issue I've seen mentioned?

Is it possible that Parallels thinks a VM is already using the partition, and won't let any other VMs use it? If so, where would that information or lockfile be stored?

    Thanks.

BTW, if you could figure out a way to boot off of Windows or Bootcamp partitions that have been copied to external drives, that would be a *big* win. Bootcamp doesn't seem to support external drives, and I've seen XP doesn't have much support for it, but perhaps in a VM context Parallels could convince XP that it's running on an internal drive.
