I am very inexperienced in this.

I have an IMAC with Parallels with XP. While on Parallels with XP looking at Craig's List(relevant?) the screen went blue and all keys were unresponsive. I turned off the computer.

When I turned it back on, the MAC system was fine. However, when I clicked on Parallels:

The first window was "New Virtual Machine"
Select one - Microsoft Windows XP
Clone of Microsoft XP (somehow I did this)
When I select either one or the other on "Action" and press "Start" I get and "OS Installation Asst. requesting that I choose "express or custom installation and then I guess I'm supposed to re-install XP----but it's already here somewhere.

I can go to "Edit" and get configuration editor with a list---one is "options Windows XP" but nothing I do here seems to make any difference.

    What to do?

    Hello,

please go to Macintosh HD -> Users -> "Your user name (The house" icon) ->Documents (Library) -> Parallels and open the Virtual Machine Name folder. Please check if there is an .hdd file?

    Best regards,
    Stacey

    Still not it

    Thank you, Stacy.

On the MAC HD under users, Stanley Perelman, there is a file called 'library' and one called 'documents'. In the 'library' file is a file called 'Parallels'. In it are two files, 'Winxp' and 'Winxp1'----clicking both I get "there is no default application specified to open document,"winxp.hdd" or "winxp1.hdd". In the user file 'documents, there is a file called 'Parallels' which when opened has a file, 'clone of Windowsxp'. When I open that file I get the same,''There is no default application......". When I do go to 'Applications' and click Parallels, none of the Parallels applications(?) are highlighted. So, what to do next? Stan

    Not much is different

    Thank you, Stacy

I uninstalled Parallels and then inserted the Parallels disk and reinstalled it but nothing seems much different.

    What now?

    Hello,

please tell me your version of Mac OS and the number of Parallels Desktop build.
Also could you please provide me with a screenshot of 'Applications' where "none of the Parallels applications(?) are highlighted"?
You can also try to create a new VM in Parallels using your winxp.hdd file.

    Best regards,
    Stacey
