    Hi -

I just upgraded to Parallels Desktop 8.

I'm using a Macbook Pro Retina, connected to a Viewsonic 24" LCD External Display (non-retina).

With Parallels Desktop 7, I basically ran my windows applications on the viewsonic 24" LCD display, and ran my mac applications on my retina display. This way, both applications came across clear.

Now, after upgrading to Parallels Desktop 8, my Windows applications now appear clear on my Retina Macbook display, but when running the Windows applications (like Excel) on my LCD display, it looks a little fuzzy and it's scaled down a bit (smaller).

Does anyone have any recommended settings for using a Macbook Pro Retina connected to a standard 24" LCD display (non-retina).

Or is my setup just not going to work (and I'm forced to buy a external display that is retina-supported) ?

    Thanks

    Having this problem, too

I decided to give the trial a go to see if it's worth switching from Fusion. My external display has a native resolution of 1920x1200 but parallels, when trying to support my laptop screen's 15" retina display attempts to set the external display resolution to 3840x2180 and then pixel multiplying/dithering to reach the right size. It's really annoying to use on my external display.

External display resolution is doubled in retina mode. You can disable retina resolution by setting VM Configuration > Hardware > Video > Resolution to Scaled.
