"parallels desktop" spinning bars just stays there on startup

Hi! upgraded from parallels desktop 4 to 5, now when I start up parallels desktop, i get the logo on the screen "parallels desktop" with the little bars spinning (as if its loading)
but it stays like that forever.. been over an hour already . no hard disk activity

i forced quit it, uninstalled parallels , and reinstalled parallels desktop 5
same result every time..

i don't know why this is happening, but i can't even get into the program. all i see is that logo on the screen (superimposed over my other windows, it is not a window itself), and the options on the menu bar are grayed out.

any hints? thanks

 

Try repairing your permissions, maybe that'll help...?
