I currently run a Mac Mini (OS X 10.11.6, El Capitan) on which I run Parallels Desktop 12.2 for Mac. I am not able to change the Mac OS (expensive licensed software and archaic hardware compatibility issues). I want to transfer the system to another Mac Mini I have, but that means purchasing another license. Unfortunately, the only purchase option available is for the standard Parallels Desktop software version 17. According to this support page (https://kb.parallels.com/en/8913) the version 17 license is not good for a 12.2 install. However, the page also states the following:

"Active Parallels Desktop Standard and Pro Edition subscriptions allow activating Parallels Desktop up to version 11. Versions below 11 cannot be activated with the modern license keys and need to be activated only by the corresponding license keys."

This implies that the monthly-fee-based Pro edition can be downgraded, but I don't want to purchase the pay-monthly-forever Pro version as I don't need its added capabilities; the standard version works just fine for me. But it also implies that the standard edition can be downgraded if the user has a support subscription (a one year support subscription is apparently $49).

I'm hoping someone can verify that I can purchase the perpetual Desktop Standard license for version 17 ($99) + a one year support subscription ($49) and end up with a license for Desktop Standard 12.2.

Can anyone confirm this before I spend $150?

    Thanks in advance,

Hello, Yes, you can purchase the perpetual license for version 17 ($99) + a yearly subscription ($49) will work for with version 12, If you already have the version 12 expired key in the same account. Thanks, Parallels Team.
