I am running a very old setup that, while laughable, has worked just fine for many years. My setup is this: I have a 2010 MacBook Pro with a BootCamp partition. Windows XP is installed on that partition and, while I can boot up into BootCamp to run Windows XP directly, I typically run Windows XP via Parallels from the Mac OS. My current Mac OS is Yosemite 10.10.5 and my version of parallels is 9....

Today, when I tried to launch Parallels, it began okay, and then it froze when it got to the message that says, "Registering My Boot Camp" ("My Boot Camp" is the name of my parallels installation on my BootCamp partition). I rebooted my computer and that didn't help. Then I tried booting onto my BootCamp partition and the first two times I tried, the computer froze when I chose the Windows partition. After rebooting a third time, I was able to boot into Windows XP via the BootCamp partition. I then rebooted onto the mac side and tried Parallels again and it again froze on the "Registering My Boot Camp" screen.

I just tried launching Parallels again via a different desktop icon and it says "The virtual machine is corrupted. The virtual machine cannot be used because its files are corrupted." and then there are two buttons: "Cancel" and "Restore." I clicked on "restore" and then it said, "Reverting ot snapshot..."

I thought that would do the trick, but now it is frozen on "Reverting to snapshot..." (the animated icon in the system tray shows an animated, red pinwheel, but nothing else is happening. It has been in this state for around 45 minutes.

I'd greatly appreciate any help I can get! Thank you in advance.
