For the past several months, my cable modem has been dropping my Internet connection. I finally discovered that it was only happening when I was using Parallels, although fortunately it only happens about 50% of the time. I also realized that it started happening about the time I upgraded to Parallels 9 and Windows 7. I am on a MacBook Pro running 10.10 Yosemite, although it started happening when I was still on 10.9 Mavericks. At first I thought the problem was with my cable modem, but replacing it did not fix the problem. I now keep AirPort Utility open and I watch it whenever I am using Parallels. It will show a green light for my Internet connection, but at some point, either when I start up Parallels, use a Windows application in Parallels, or close Parallels, it will knock out my Internet connection about 50% of the time. I have to do a lot of network maintenance in my job, and this acts just like there is an IP address conflict. However, I have tried various network settings for Parallels, and I even tried setting static IPs for both the Mac side and Parallels side, but nothing has made any difference. So now they are both back to DHCP and Parallels is in Shared mode. I am sure that the problem is related to Parallels because this problem NEVER happens until I use Parallels. I guess it's possible that my Airport Extreme doesn't like something about Parallels 9 - it never had any problems with earlier versions of Parallels. It's working right now, so I'll try to upload a screenshot so you can see my MacBook IP (192.168.0.18) next to my Parallels/Windows IP (10.211.55.4). Any suggestions for what I should try next?
