    Hello
after installing Parallels Toolbox I have had huge problems with my MacBook.

i do believe Parallels Toolbox gave itself permission to start presentation mode, after that all my icons disappeared from my desktop and my laptop won't go to sleep.
i have tried to change the settings, take away Parallels Toolbox permissions, close the application, uninstall the application I still can't see my icons and the laptop won't go to sleep..
I think the only thing left to do is to format the computer?

    what the actual .... parallels?

    Hi Rickard,

We are deeply sorry about your experience, this is not what we want for our customers.

In the presentation mode tool's settings, there is a checkbox that unhides/hides desktop files.

I assume this was ticked on by default and led to the issue you experienced. If you have not formatted it yet, you may perform the following steps:

Alternatively, if you do not want to install Parallels Toolbox, you may perform the following steps:

    1. open terminal
    2. type : ls ~/desktop
    3. then type : chflags nohidden *

    Hi Hello,

I also encountered the same problem, it bothered me~

    My Mac system is Monterey

    I have three Widows systems

After installing PD20 and the new Toolbox, all desktop data began to be hidden...

After a month of testing, it was confirmed that this phenomenon is caused by opening Toolbox and Win 7 or Win 10

    I deleted PD20 and reinstalled it...it didn't work

I deleted Toolbox and reinstalled it...it didn't work

The current situation is difficult to explain... It will suddenly return to normal. Opening Toolbox is normal, opening one of the Win systems is normal, and closing one of the Win systems will suddenly hide everything...

When will recovery occur? It's hard to have a correct time...

I also have a Mac Mini 2018 with the same system, and it is completely normal...

The solution you suggested will only work temporarily...

I can't stand it anymore and am ready to reinstall the system!!

How to get it back to normal?? PD19 is fine, can I return PD19 and the old version of Toolbox!? Or don't use Toolbox anymore??!!

    Hi
The reply just now was wrong...
When Toolbox is opened, it works fine. But when I open one of them, win7 or win 10, it suddenly hides everything...

Wow, this really messed me up, because it happened to me and I hadn't ever used or turned on Presentation Mode. It just decided to turn itself on in the background. I tore my hair out for two days, because I knew my data was still there, as I could see the directories in terminal. I just couldn't get access, and I ended up reformatting my hard drive, and I lost some data that hadn't made it into the latest backup. This happened a few months ago, when this issue must have been new, and I couldn't find any other people who had had this issue. It happened again today, and I fortunately found a mention on Apple.com. Maybe there should be a helpful alert to registered Mac users of Parallels Toolbox that this might happen.

    Hi Hello,

I took advantage of my vacation to try out the operating system that normally boots up and runs.

    The final conclusion is:

After opening ToolBox and then opening the Windows system, my Mac desktop will be completely hidden immediately when it is turned on or off...

Three days ago, I removed ToolBox and booted up Win 7 / Win 10 / Win 11 again. After three days of experience, the hidden events no longer occurred...

Please tell me, where can I download the old version of ToolBox? Or it is recommended that I not install it for the time being...

ToolBox is actually pretty easy to use, and I never thought it was the cause...
