Hello there, I tried to search the forum, but couldn't find a match to the problem I have. I'm running Snow Leopard, and have just installed Parallels Desktop 4.0. I have installed Windows 7 and it Works like a charm, except the usual sound/internet doesn't work. So I'm trying to install Parallels Tools, and everything seems to work fine except just when it's about to finish, it "roll back", uninstall itself and suggest to restart windows and try again. All I can is to press "ok", which will result in a restart. I have done that a handful of times, but no luck. Any suggestions what I might be? Thanks a lot for an awesome tool! Looking forward to get this baby running correctly. Kind Regards, Dan
Hello, Are any antiviruses running on your virtual machine? They might not be allowing Parallels Tools to properly install. If so, please disable them and try again. Also try to install Parallels Tools manually: 1) Go to MAC HD/ Library/Parallels/Tools/Prl-tools-win.iso. 2) Double click on that file. 3) You will have a file as Setup.exe. 4) Copy the file and paste it in Windows Desktop. (you can also use a pen/flash drive for this purpose) 5) Then run the setup.exe in Windows. 6) you will be able to install Parallel Tools Perfectly.
I'm having the same issue as the original poster, and your suggested solution does not work -- same rollback issue occurs. (I have no antivirus installed, and UAC permissions are set to low alerts.) Note that the Parallels Tool installation stopped working after a recent automatic public "RTM" prelease Windows 7 update was installed (it had worked in an earlier release), so I suspect this problem is due to the RTM update issues in the last few weeks.
Please send a Problem Report from Parallels desktop menu Help -> Report a Problem and post here its id
