I'm trying to install Ubuntu Server 9.10 (32-bit) on Parallels Desktop v5.9.9344 from the Ubuntu iso downloaded from the Ubuntu website. I get to the step where it does the Virtual Machine creation at which time I get an error message that says "Unable to create the Unattended.iso disc image. Please contact the Parallels support team for assistance."

I'm not certain if this is a problem with the Parallels not being able to install the server portion of the Ubuntu server (thus requiring the Parallels Server package), of if something isn't just installing incorrectly.

    Any assistance is greatly appreciated.

mmm a small update about this.

when you created the machine and you get this error unable to create unattended.iso ,well -> go to configure for the current machine and you'll see CD/DVD 1 and CD/DVD2 , select the image also for the first one (you'll see unattended.iso is selected by default for the machine) , then it will work when you boot the machine..

seems to be a small bug in the express wizard

    Kind Regards,
    Geert

    Geert,

Thanks for the info on this - however I'm not sure I'm following you on this. I'm trying to create the Ubuntu Server, I haven't created the VM for it yet. I see where you're talking about in changing the unattended option in an existing VM (a standard client Ubuntu install), however I can't get far enough into the install for Ubuntu Server to make that change.

Thanks for any assistance/ideas you may have on this.

    sorry,

try to create a "custom" vm and not detected by the inserted media, then it should work. not use any of the express functions or whatso ever

    so

    -new machine
    -skip detection
    -version "ubuntu linux"
    -custom
    -new image file
    -...
-last one is the "select boot image" CD/DVD, select there the iso, then it should work ? :)
