Hi all, I have a unique situation. We have some machines running Windows XP via Parallels which are protected by MacShield. Every month when the Windows password interval expires with our AD network, I have to unprotect the machine, restart, unjoin Windows from the domain, restart that, rejoin Windows to the domain, then reenable MacShield. It takes about an hour to do this for three machines. In an effort to speed things up, I reformatted one of the the machines and created two partitions - one for Mac and one to house the Parallels-created Windows files. This IS NOT a Boot Camp partition, merely an unprotected partition housing the default Parallels OS install.

The biggest problem I've seen is a huge decrease in performance. We're not trying to do anything really intensive either. Just log in, use Internet Explorer, Outlook, Word and Excel. I followed the instructions advised in the Boot Camp vs. Image file thread, but I'm only seeing a slight increase in performance. Parallels continues to lock up for extended periods of time (up to 5 minutes).

    Here is the setup:
iMac 2 GHz Intel Core 2 Duo
2 GB RAM (512 allocated to Virtual Machine)
    Parallels version 3 build 5638

Anyone have any other ideas? I'm tempted to move the Parallels image back to the main partition.
