Hi --- are there some clues or info as to why the following error comes up upon installation of a volume license edition of Win7 in Parallels?

"The unattend answer file contains an invalid product key. Either remove the invalid key or provide a valid product key in the unattend answer file to proceed with Windows installation."

    Thanks!

    Hi Ken,

I'm having the exact same problem.
I'm a first time Parallels user and I've got Parallels 7. Is that the same situation as you?

    Success!

On the screen in Parallels where you're asked to enter the license key there's a check box option called "This Version requires a Product key" that you need to uncheck. Once you do this you can install Windows and enter the volume license key through in Windows later.

Thanks BrendanD. I ran into the same problem with P7 and Win7. Your post helped me.

    Thanks Brendan!

Ran into the same problem with a downloaded copy of Win 7 Pro. I took Brendan's advice and unchecked the box and it ran through perfectly so I could enter the License Key later ... thanks for saving me hours of precious life time!

    Thanks Brendan

I had the same issue and read some different threads which didn't help, unchecking the box did the trick. What I'd like to know is why does that box exist? Are there copies of windows that don't require a product key? Why has this been an issue since parallels 6 through to 8? Fix it parallels!
