    Hello,

Parallels/Windows XP was giving me fits for a while in trying to get the networking working. The problem that I had was with shared and host-only networking (I couldn't use bridged networking because of IP assignment issues). The Parallels NAT and DHCP server were working great, and assigned IP addresses to Windows (10.211.55.3 for example) correctly. However, I was unable to access the network past the Mac! I could ping 10.211.55.2 and 10.211.55.1 (the Mac and the Parallels DHCP server respectively) fine, but nothing past the Mac. After talking to Parallels support, I set the VM to use bridged networking with a temporary IP address that I had for my network and manually the IP address, gateway, and subnet mask. This worked fine. I then changed Parallels to shared networking, and set Windows to get the IP address automatically from a DHCP server. And it worked!

I traced the problem to Windows somehow caching the gateway for my network (which the Mac uses) even when it was set to use DHCP. Once I did the above step, it reset the gateway to the Parallels-assigned gateway, which in my case was 10.211.55.1.

    Hope someone finds this helpful.
