    Is it possible to run the parallels_transporter_agent without a display?

    The physical Fedora system that I want transport to virtual does not have a GUI.

    If it requires a GUI, what would be the minimal (yum) libraries required? TIA dave-

    Hello,

    unfortunately, I suppose it is not possible to run Parallels Transporter Agent without a GUI at the moment. I'll try to obtain more specific information bout particular libraries that you need.

    -nox11 still needs a GIU?

    I've even tried installing Parallels Transporter Agent with the -nox11
    $ Parallels-tsp-3.0.1454-lin.run --nox11
    and I still get the 'Can't find display' error.

    Did I miss the point of nox11?

    We don't install X or GNOME on servers. Not really any point. I like parallels but I'm going to have look at VmWare if this stays a problem.

    Ubuntu 6LTS
    Linux <myserver> 2.6.15-26-server #1 SMP Thu Aug 3 04:09:15 UTC 2006 i686 GNU/Linux

    same thing with *6

    I installed that newer version but still get the same error:
    Error: Can't open display .

    I tried setting the DISPLAY to :0.0 and that changed the error to:
    Error: Can't open display 0.0

    FYI:
    I'm ssh'ed into this box. It wasn't set up to even run '$ xterm &'
    parallels_transporter_agent --version --> 3.0.1456

    Thanks for the very quick responses. I'm very impressed.

    do you know if this is a general problem? Does it work for others with no x-server installed? Or, is it just a problem with my setup?

    Was this ever resolved?

    I'm trying to do the same thing from Fedora 8 using Parallel's version 4.0. When I try to start the agent with the --nox11, it complains that the option is invalid. The machine that I'm trying to clone is a headless server, so X really isn't an option.

    Any news

    Hi Parallels guy. Any good news about the possibility to start the Agent on a Linux Machine without a GUI.
    Please keep in mind in the business environment we almost always manage Linux servers without the GUI so it would be really important to be able to launch the Agent from the Linux text terminal.

    Any forecast to support it please ?
    Regards
    Diego

    Hi

    Old versions of Parallels Transporter Agent could not be started without GUI. Last versions are able.
