Terribly sorry if this has been addressed on this board - I couldnt find an answer. I have been trying to install windows xp in Parallels for the past 7 or so hours and have passed my wits, pitched into the precipice of despair and am twitching frighteningly on the floor. I have beyond had it.

    I have a macbook pro Intel Core 2 Duo 2.5GHz, 15" TFT, 2GB DDR2, 250GB running OS X 10.5 Leopard - I don't know how to check which Parallels Build#..Disk is Parallels 3.0.

Parallels installed no issue. Whilst installing Windows XP i got two error messages:

'Cannot Install wowdeb.exe' and 'cannot install xptht40D.exe'

In each case I hit 'enter' and it continued to install.

However when windows starts installing in xp it goes through the following ok:

    Collecting Information
    Dynamic Update
    Preparing Installation
THEN at 'Installing Windows' a 'Fatal Error' occurs - It says it is a Cyclic redundancy check and the set log files reads as follows:

    Error:
SXS.DLL:Syntax error in manifest or police file "D:\I386\asms\7000MSFT\WINDOWS\MSWINCRT.MAN" on line 4.
    ***
    Error:
Installtion Failed : D:\I386\asms. Error Message: Data Error [Cyclic redundancy check].
    ***
    Fatal Error:
One of the components that Windows needs to continue setup could not be installed.
    Data Error [Cyclic redundancy check].

It then says that if installing from a CD, there might be a problem so to try cleaning it or use another.
If installing from the network, it is possible not all files were copied correctly - Run the disk checking utility on my installtion drive from the recovery console and start setup again (note: How the FRAK do I do that?!)

So these are the things I have done:

    Reinstalled everything - no luck
Reinstalled Parallels - yeah still no luck
Custom reinstalled Parallels - ooh pretty! No luck
Tried to create a .iso file - ha! 'Input/Output error'
Tried to create a .cdr file to change into a .iso file - yeah nice try, no luck
Cleaned the disc - no luck [its spotless, not even a smidge of a smudge or scratch

Read this thread: http://forum.parallels.com/showthread.php?t=20937 Not sure if Vonne ever solved the problem tho mine seemed similar..

Surely there is an answer. I refuse to believe that this cannot /will not be resolved. Any help will be rewarded with a golden cookie of goodness. I have developed severe anger management issues from this installation alone and am at risk of reenacting the 'printer/copier destruction scene' from Office Space with my laptop.

I entreat you - please please HELP.
    Thanks in advance,
    H

    Try following
    1. Delete failed VM folder from Documents/Parallels
    2. Start Parallels Desktop -Select Custom installation
    3. Disable Hardware acceleration and Intel-VTx in VM configuration page - Configuration -Options - Advanced
    Install VM,
I am only afraid of iso output error, if problem is still there you need to replace CD

Thank you John I tried it and still no luck. HOWEVER, I went to a friend's house and borrowed her xp cd. It installed IMMEDIATELY. Seems I got a dodgy disc.

Thanks so much. My wits are slowly returning!
