Hi, I decided to give PD8 a try yesterday as I typically use Fusion 5 to run my Bootcamp partition and play the occasional game etc. Aside from the problems installing PD8 (unable to start during install, unable to use Tab key during install etc), it found my bootcamp partition, installed the drivers and got everything running My problem now comes in the way of performance.. The host is a rMBP (so plenty of CPU/RAM to go around) with the nVidia card forced on, and the VM was set to 2 vCPU's and 4GB RAM. I also increased the video RAM to 1GB after my initial testing. For comparisons sake (and I know its a weak comparison) I took three screenshots of the WEI ratings... The Parallels one looks really good, apart from the 2D performance :-( On the 3D note, running games was a lot smoother and I could turn the detail up higher. One problem I did notice was that while moving around in the game the graphics went from smooth to jerky quite often (in the same movement). I tried with vSync on and off but it made no difference. I checked the CPU usage of both the host and the guest and both looked fine. The graphics settings of the game are set to the same as Fusion, which doesn't suffer from this issue. This is why it has me somewhat confused... Fusions graphics score is considerably lower, however when I scroll in a game it doesn't go jerky, yet Parallels does on the same graphics settings. It leaves me questioning... Has anyone seen this 2D/3D performance lapse/issue and/or done anything about it?
Biggest one so far is Anno 2070... Graphics are set to medium with no AA or ASF (same settings as in Fusion). Scrolling around the map alternates from smooth to jerky every 2 seconds or so :-( I just tried it again after bumping up the CPU cores to 4 (just to test), same results. Dead island is also giving me graphics jittering problems, as is Battle Run.
