I have Windows Vista set up as a VM on my intel MacBook.

When I run it using Parallels v. 1970, it seems to run relatively smoothly and semi-quick.

When I run it under RC2, its like molasses... slow as can be to start up, do any commands, shut down, move between windows, etc, etc. It basically bogs the whole machine down.

Any thoughts on why there's such a dramatic difference between the two? I've checked and the general settings all seem to be the same.

    Thanks,

    Charlie

Are you using coherence? Coherence has a huge performance hit.

Other than that, RC2 is generally slower and more resource intensive than 1970.

I don't notice much difference on XP, about 21% vs. 20% constant CPU on a VM with 2 application windows open. Is the hit Vista specific? Even dragging windows doesn't cause much more CPU in coherence mode (though I've disabled showing window contents while dragging in windows which I assume will make a difference).

What is the performance of 1970 at idle? I assume it is better than 20%? What happens when you pause 1970 (3150 still chews through 12% CPU!)

    I idle around 9-12%. On 3150, I idle around 20%. With coherence I idle around 30-40%. Hence I don't use 3150.
