I have a 2013 MBP with 250GB SSD, so storage space is sort of an issue. My question is can i place my .pvm file with my Windows 8.1 Pro virtual machine on my Western Digital hard drive to free up space on my Mac hard drive, and run it properly off my external hard drive?

    Hi JoshuaM93,

Yes you can move the .pvm file to an external drive and work with your VM.

    - Locate the .pvm file in the Mac Finder (http://kb.parallels.com/117333)
    - Copy the entire .pvm file and move it to the desired location.
    - Double click on the .pvm file once it is moved to the desired location.
    - While starting the VM select "Use Existing Virtual Machine" option.

    Thanks,
    Abdul
