Printers and Sessions

Discussion in 'Parallels Remote Application Server' started by mauricedorris, Sep 11, 2012.

  1. I have been having problems with the Universal Printer. The support guys at 2X have been very helpful.

Now the next question is... I have win2K3 server and I have it configured so that multiple connections can be made using the same login. Its much simpler this way. However, when the printers are displayed, I can see all the printers mapped from the same login. Instead, I want to see only the printers mapped for that session.

I have 6 users in different places login in with the same username and every user can see all the other users printers. Its a bit confusing to say the least.

How do I control that.in version 10.5 XG

As far as I catch your configuration your issue is by design from the Microsoft OS.

By default the redirected printers are only displayed to the owner as well as to users with administrative rights. When you logon several times with the same account then also everyone who logon with it is the owner of the redirected printers from the other logon locations... so it's a security issue in one way or another.

To me it sounds like you need to reconsider your logon strategy.

    Kind Regards,

  3. Actually, we are a provider of software services. That's why we will have one TS login per client. It works for us.

Maybe I need to consider the legacy mode printing. If I can get it to work like it did in version 6.2, then I am good.

I know I am making a big jump from version 6.x to 10.5

Or you do sell it as a feature to the client. When all devices from one client are logon with the same credentials it can also be nice that I can also print on the local USB printer from my college next door :)

If the users get confused because of all this printers maybe you could help them out with setting the default printer to the default printer that is connected locally at the device from which the user is coming or with changing the syntax for the printer names?

    Good speed!
