Brand new iMac, set up with old Canon i9900. Works flawlessly. Installed Parallels 6, which automatically came up and said "Using Mac Printer." Installed Stamps.com (in the VM) which demands a fairly powerful printer, as it actually prints stamps. Usually Stamps.com is seamless, installs and runs, but this time it had some bizarre reactions, both to the actual operation, and the Printer "Setup" which failed. My own diagnosis is the printer driver that is installed WITHIN Parallels is not right, seems to be a Canon 28nn, or somesuch. NOT a Canon i9900. I installed the i9900 driver in Windows, and that works fine, BUT it captures the Port (LPT 1) and won't let go, so now the Mac side won't print - unless I "Suspend" the virtual machine (Windows). Not an elegant solution. How to proceed?
