Using the 2x printer, the file always opens in adobe acrobat viewer, even if I have it configured to print directly to the default printer. If I set the option to allow me to select the printer, a dialog box opens to let me do that, but I still get the print job opened in the acrobat reader at the bottom. Is there anyway to force the acrobat reader not to show?
Hello, You need to disable 2X Universal printing to stop Adobe appearing. However if you do so, 2X Universal Printing will not be available. The behavior of Adobe Reader is not something we can control, it's an Adobe issue.
OK... Its adobe. I understand. However, would it not be possible to have the 2x client automatically close the adobe windows as they pop up? I could probably create something myself if I could figure out how to determine which pdf's in the temp folder were created by 2x. are they always named tux*.tmp.pdf? Thanks for any assistance. I'm just trying to make this easier for my end users.
Adobe I too would like to know how to close adobe automatically. Is their any way to accomplish this?
And what about support for Foxit Reader? This little, very fast PDF reader doesn't show-up when printing using the universal printer. But the problem with this one is that there are randomly printed squares between / through the text. It's weird, because normally this reader hasn't any problems reading regular PDF's. Maybe the devs could look into this one? It would be nice to have such a fast reader without the pop-up issue of Adobe.
Adobe Reader You cant build something using Adobe PDF, and then blame the way your program behaves on Adobe. It is your problem. Turning off universal printing is not a solution. I really hope an internal viewer, that you have written and can control the way it behaves (silent printing, view before print, save to...etc) is on the agenda for future release. (hopefully before Version 6) If you want support Adobe Reader, tell us an alternative, that will behave the way you want and package it with your client.
Hi there, 2X Universal printer works on a printing concept that the operating system offers. This concept is implemented by Adobe and other applications, but unfortunately Foxit does not. Now if these applications that implement this feature decide to leave their application open, then it is their decision and 2X Client has got nothing to do with it. You can always make a solution that kills that application in a brute manner but that is not 2X Client's job. Nixu
