I have installed parallels on my new mac and all the programs seem to work fine, except I can not print any file containing german special characters like ä or ö.
printing from an apple program works just fine, even with the special characters.

    Hello Simon,

If you use Parallel Port for printing, you seem to have the problem with HP Color LaserJet 8500 PS driver which is generic driver that's being used for printing from the VM.

In this case you'd better setup a USB printer:

    1. Open the VM configuration in the Configuration Editor and make sure that the configuration includes a USB controller; if necessary, add it.

    2. Open the USB Options tab, and make sure that the Enabled option is selected. Select the Autoconnect at startup if you want the printer to be automatically captured by the VM. Click OK to close Configuration Editor.

    3. Start the guest operating system.

    4. Plug in the USB printer as a USB device.

    5. Install the native driver for the printer in the guest OS.

    Best regards,
    Xenos
