After reading of so many people having problems getting printing working, I guess I must be living right, or doing the right voodoo chant before starting! The printer is an all-in-one HP2410 connected via USB. I downloaded the XP driver-only software and am using Parallels build 3188. Started the software install, connected the printer when asked, and MUCH to my surprise....it worked as advertised. The Windows printer test sheet printed! This is just to give hope to those people reading the forum. Previously I had setup printing on my own iMac with a network printer..HP2610. The HP2410 is connected to my Daughter's iMac. For most people, Parallels works pretty well for a new piece of software.
