Hi, I'm helping someone with this issue. They have a Mac, OfficeJet 8500 Pro with 2nd paper try. Tray 2 is default, Tray 1 is locked. Locked means when Tray 2 runs out of paper it will not automatically start pulling paper from Tray 1. In the Mac OS side, you can print to Tray 1 and Tray 2. Running Windows 8 via Parallels, it only prints to the default tray (2), no matter which tray I select. What is odd is that Win8 shows 4 trays which makes me think it doesn't really see the trays properly. I saw there are firmware updates for this printer but could not find what those updates do. Also, it appears you have to have Windows to run these updates so I'm not sure if they would really run properly. I'm wondering if I should load the Win8 driver within Parallels instead of using the one that comes with it? I'm unsure if Parallels replicates the driver somehow or if it just tells Windows what printer and Windows just uses it's built in driver? Ideas?
