Hi, I have a Samsung CLP-310 printer which works perfectly on Windows machines but I have just changed over to an iMac and am running a Bootcamp partition with Parallels to allow me to access the Sony programmes and others that I need to use. I used to have my printer attached to the Windows computer and I printed to it, from my MacBook. I want to print in OSX applications but cannot as the Samsung printer driver is faulty (they acknowledge it) and it does not work without unplugging the USB cable after every print. I was wondering whether it is possible to get the USB printer "attached" via Parallels to the Windows system using its working drivers and then print from the OSX system to a "network printer" on the Windows partition in a manner similar the way it was before ?
Yes, that should work. Read the "Setting Up a Printer in a Virtual Machine" section in the Parallels Desktop help which will lead to "Connecting USB Devices to a Virtual Machine." Then you need to setup printer sharing in your virtual machine like you did on your original Windows computer.
