I have installed two different windows systems and was attempting to get a linux environment going. The installation went off fine. However, when I rebooted the VM, the linux sequence hung at "Uncompressing linux. Ok booting Kernel".

I have searched all over and found similar problems but no resolution.

    Anyone have any thoughts?

    Much appreciated.

How much memory did you allocate to the VM. If you allocate more than 512MB it will not boot properly.

    Thanks dailo

I allocated 256M. I found some EFI and eLILO references but those were a little outside my experience.

Try it with 512MB. Are you using Ubuntu Server, or Desktop? If it's server you're after, there's a post by me somewhere on this forum with a link on how to "fix" the kernel. If it's Desktop you're after, X/Kubuntu is a better option.
