Hi I've been running win7 x64 on parallels 10 for the past 9 months on my macbook pro and it was excellent. This is a 2013 MBP with 16gb ram and SSD; 4gb allocated to the VM - basically a "standard" Win7 install Last night I decided to use this as a test environment for Win10 Way I did it was to use a usb still with rufus installer and the 10pro iso (same way I did it for a netbook a few months ago) from within the Win7 x64 Ultimate instance. Seemed to install fine and it automatically prompted to reinstall parallels tools. Did a windows update and all seemed tickety boo. But when I closed it down to restart I noted it took an absolute age to boot up and I now have the following issues: 1) On starting the VM I get the normal black "loading Windows 10" screen but then I lose the window entirely as in it just isn't visible and in the dock it is transparent. Almost on a whim I right-clicked and tried "without coherence" and I could see it again (this is consistent - if I enable coherence the window disappears and the dock icon becomes the same gray colour as the dock) 2) within Windows everything takes an absolute age to respond 3) and now when I click on the windows icon it turn blue but the normal list doesn't pop up. I can right click it to access all those menus but not the normal left click ones (including settings). Everything seems to take an age to respond. I have clearly done something wrong but no idea what. I did save a snapshot of just before I installed win10 so if I delete the current snapshot and go back to that will I be back in win7 and if so what do I do correctly next time?
Hi Wigwam12, Please re install Parallels Tools manually then install Windows updates and check whether the issue still persisting.
Hi Can someone please advise how to upgrade window 10 from 8.1, I am current using 2015 iMac with up-to-date software however when try to download and install upgrade 10, at the first re-start a error message occurs, we couldn't install window 10, your pc set back the way it was, 0xc1900101 - 0x20017, it also states that the installation failed in the safe_OS phase with an error during boot operation.
Hello Razaq, 1. Please make sure you have at least 2GB of RAM assigned to your Virtual Machine by clicking Actions > Configure > Hardware > CPU and MEMORY also please increase your Hard disk space by clicking > Hard disk > Edit and make sure you have at least 20 GB of free space left in order to upgrade. (make sure your Windows virtual machine is stopped while performing this step). 2. Please uninstall antivirus from your current Windows (if any) 3. Then follow this article to upgrade your Windows
